Sabrina Branch with American Kettlebell Swings during a WOD

Friction CrossFit spent some time with Sabrina in an interview-you can read her story here:

FCF: What changes have you noticed in the past year?

Sabrina: I’ve definitely noticed my increase in flexibility-I was actually doing a lot of workouts but when the winter came I would stop. But being here what’ been keeping me going is everyone here- it’s the community here.

FCF: What are you looking forward to in 2016?

Sabrina: Being able to do a pull-up is my main goal. There’s a lot that I have for 2016, my top three are:

Keeping mobility and taking the time to do it
Getting that handstand
And pull-ups

With my mobility I never knew I was stiff until I got in the box. My goal is to keep doing mobility so I can increase my flexibility. By doing the mobility I learned in rehab with the mobility I am learning at Friction it has already increased my mobility-it’s the combination of the two that has really helped.

FCF: What is your greatest fitness accomplishment?

Sabrina: Being able to accomplish the snatch balance. When I first started I needed assistance just to get the bar up and over on the back of my shoulders-now I can do it on my own.

FCF: What has your fitness journey been?

Sabrina: I’ve always enjoyed being athletic. I always played sports even as a kid in elementary school, I played everything from softball, rec ball, gus maker, volleyball, and more. The older I got, and as a single mother raising kids there were things that ended up going on the back burner so my kids could try their own interests in sports. As they got older I started to get back into working out but every tie the winter came I would hibernate. Then when spring came it was as if I had to start all over again. Then I always said I was going to find a way to continue improving my fitness year round, and after I saw CrossFit on television that motivated me to give it a try and I haven’t left.
