Our highly-qualified coaches are dedicated to you and each and every class they lead. We understand your goals – we’ve been there and we’ve coached members through every imaginable fitness goal. From the smallest (but not always the easiest) to the seemingly impossible, we’re here to help and guide you though them all.

Fitness has always been an important part of my life, and so has helping others reach their own goals. When I first tried CrossFit I fell in love immediately. I knew this was this perfect place for me to be competitive, and to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of. I spent time as a personal trainer in the past, so having the opportunity to coach at Crossfit was a given. Nothing beats the community, atmosphere, and intensity.

Mike is the elder statesman of the group. He has been involved in weight training longer than our other coaches have been alive. There is not a fitness program he has not tried and CrossFit is the method that hooked him for good. He has a passion for fitness and the success of our athletes. His main goal is to bring the best out of each and every athlete he coaches.

He has been teaching science at Muskegon Catholic Central high school and coaching athletic teams for 20 years and has recently turned his attention from high school athletes to our Box Crossfit athletes. He has always loved training and developing workout programs for his friends, wife Cathi, and sons, Nicholas and Coby, who are both athletes at the college level.

If you can’t find him in the gym (doubtful) then you will most likely find him on a Spartan Obstacle Race course somewhere in the US. He has developed quite a following of masochistic individuals who show up every Saturday for a special no time limit-no holds barred WOD (or WODS) experience. He is also our daily WOD programmer so if you come in and get beat down by one of our WODS then you know who to thank (curse). In either he will most likely say “you’re welcome.”

Michael Sanders has been an important and valued member of the West Michigan CrossFit Community for some time now. His passion for CrossFit is unquestionable, his love of helping fellow athletes reach their potential is undeniable, his motivational skills are unmatched, his strength and focus is legendary. Sanders is kind of a big deal. We could not be more proud to announce Michael chose to begin his CrossFit Coaching Career here at Spring Lake CrossFit. Welcome to the family Coach!
