We all know what is going on in most people’s lives during this time of year: New Year’s Resolutions! Meet Becky. This inspirational SkeeTown athlete started in on her resolutions earlier this year! She knew she wanted to make changes to her nutrition and her health, but didn’t really know how to start a program that would help her achieve her desired results. However, two of her friends from work were working out at SkeeTown, and listening to them peaked her curiosity about CrossFIt. They encouraged her to give it a try and so? She did! Becky signed up for one of our six week challenges, stuck to the nutrition plan, and did the work. At the end of the six weeks, she had made great gains in terms of both weight and inches lost, but better yet? She FELT great! So she transitioned over to CrossFit and has never looked back.

Needless to say, we have loved watching her literally transform right before our eyes. Here is a little bit about her journey.
What do you remember about your first workout? My nerves! But also Erica’s smile, which helped! I was so nervous because I didn’t know ANYTHING! I had no clue what any of the equipment was for, or how to do any of the movements. or what any of the letters stood for (WOD, AMRAP, etc.) And I was afraid of looking goofy.
When working out, what’s your favorite thing to do? The rower! I’ll take rowing any day over that damn bike or running! I also love deadlifts and jumping rope. (FYI? Becky recently mastered the art of the double under!!!! Insert clapping sound here! Yeah girl!!!)
What advice do you have for new members? Don’t be afraid! The majority of us didn’t know much when we first signed up! Don’t worry what you will look like, don’t worry who’s watching, don’t worry if you have to scale, don’t worry if you have questions!! This place has amazing coaches and members who will be right there encouraging you and helping you.
What did you feel like before starting CrossFit? And what do you feel like now? Before I started, I felt sluggish and “blah.” It was a chore just to walk up five steps. Five steps!!! Now? I skip up those steps without holding the railing for support! My strength, stability, and flexibility have grown SO much! CrossFit had also given me a sense of accomplishment! Even if I finish the WOD last, at least I finished! Even if I scale, at least I am doing SOMEthing!
Any physical changes you’d like to share?(Weight lost/inches lost/gained) According to my most current measurement on file I have lost 37 pounds, 18 inches and 5% body fat. However, that’s been a while so I’m sure it’s even more by now. My goal is weight loss. And when I reach my goal, I want to maintain my weight.
What is special about SkeeTown CrossFit that keeps you coming back? Hands down: THE PEOPLE!!!! I’ve said it a million times…this place is so much more that a gym or a “place to go to work out.” It’s friends, it’s support, it’s love, it’s genuine compassion and care. It’s people who remember your name and your spouses/kids names. It’s people who high-five you after your WOD regardless of the outcome. It’s people who joyfully scream in your face when you get that new PR, and then hug you! It’s a whole other family!
