Before joining CrossFit, you would have never found me working out in a group atmosphere. I used to try and go to the gym when no one was there because I had no routine and didn’t really know what I was doing. That didn’t last long before I decided to sign up for personal training. At that time, Bobby (Current coach/co-owner of SkeeTown CrossFit) was my trainer. He pushed me, knew what I was capable of, cared about my goals, and made me enjoy working out. When he established SkeeTown CrossFit, I followed him to the CrossFit gym. I was very hesitant at first because I didn’t know a lot of people who had done CrossFit and it was a new experience for me. It was one of the greatest steps outside my comfort zone. I went from curling 10-pound dumbbells to lifting 125 pounds over my head! I’m very competitive and played sports all through high school, so CrossFit is a perfect in between and I can workout and have fun while doing it! CrossFit has improved my body weight movements, heavy lifts, and flexibility. It has also increased my confidence and ability to be mentally strong.

It’s amusing when I read articles written by people who think CrossFit is just picking up a heavy object for one rep then setting it down, they are definitely wrong. Attempt a full-blown workout with as many reps as you can for 20 minutes, its not possible to be successful at this without mental focus, which is what I have learned and am still learning after doing CrossFit for 10 months. I’m so thankful to be a part of a supportive gym where I’ve made friends who push me and want me to succeed. I’ve even caught myself a few times saying “this one time at CrossFit”!! Its hard to not be a “CrossFit addict” when you have three awesome coaches who encourage you and workout buddies who care about your PR’s just as much as you. There is no final stage of CrossFit, which is what I love because you can always strive for more. I’m looking forward to accomplishing my current goals and making new ones!
