Don’t let the holidays crush your goals

The holidays are filled with family, friends, fun and of course FOOD!  With all this holiday cheer (and beer) it can be hard to stick with your nutrition plan.  This can wreak havoc on your fitness goals and lead to those holiday blues.  However, this holiday can still be merry and bright if you follow these 3 simple rules:

Nutrition Seminar coming up January 9th, 2016.  Plan for 2-3 hours of in depth information and strategy to help make your 2016 amazing!  Everyone walks away with an individualized plan.  Cost is $30, fill out the form below for more details.

  1. Work with you family/host, or plan ahead
    • Don’t be a party pooper, but be smart and take care of yourself.
      • Ask your host if they have any healthier options to prepare, just don’t go too overboard like this guy:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oht9AEq1798
      • Offer to create a dish of your own to bring
      • Eat before arriving, so that you are not staring at the pies with hangry eyes
  2. Alternate alcohol with water
    • For every spiked egg nog, be sure to consume 20 ounces of water
    • 20 ounces may seem like a lot, but consider this: you will be full, hydrated AND sober enough not to start a fight with your siblings!  So that’s good.
  3. Be Active, create a new tradition
    • Hit a quick workout in the morning to spike your metabolism and energy levels (try some of ours here: http://www.frictioncrossfit.com/blog/lastest-wod/ )
    • Start a tradition with the family
      • Play a game of football in the snow
      • Play tag with the kids
      • Make bets with everyone that you can do more push ups than them
      • Arm wrestle
      • Play an overly aggressive game of Spoons https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoons

And remember, slipping up a little is okay, just have fun and be smart this Holiday!
